15 Healthy Smoothie Recipes To Super Charge Your Day

Who doesn’t love healthy smoothie recipes?

The consistency and flavor of a well-made smoothie that can fill up your tummy and get you up and vibrant, ready for your morning, is downright priceless.

My favorite part is that they can easily become a complete meal in one easy to drink beverage that you can take with you everywhere (especially when you’re running late to work).

While I was making my usual smoothie the other day, I noticed I had recently started to make more sugary concoctions instead of focusing on making it filling and healthy.

And this is where your smoothies can start going downhill and not providing the nutrition your body is asking for.

It’s a fine balance, to say the least, to be able to keep your smoothies tasty and healthy at the same time (and not like you just dumped a bottle of NyQuil into it).

That’s why it’s always helpful to include greens along with your fruits.

In the end, if you aren’t careful, you can be adding way too many sugars and not enough of all the other good stuff. That’s another reason why I love to use superfood seeds in my healthy smoothie recipes as much as possible.

Before we dive into all the different types of smoothies you can make, there are some basics that you can add to your smoothies to make them supercharged with healthy antioxidants and vitamins.

These can be things like chia seeds or a teaspoon of turmeric. Here’s a detailed list and what each does for your body.

Ingredients For Healthy Smoothies

Some of the ingredients to supercharge your smoothies with nutrients are:

Turmeric

Turmeric is a yellowish powder that contains curcumin, which is super healthy for you in more ways than one. It has antioxidants, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory properties along with helping improve brain function. Usually, since the curcumin is the property that is responsible for all the goodness in turmeric, people also like the buy the extract in pure form.

Chia Seeds

These are probably my favorites to sprinkle over all types of food especially because they are tasteless for the most part. Chia seeds are a great source of fiber, omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, calcium, and protein, among a lot of other things. Just pop a spoonful of this into any sort of smoothie you can think of and you’re already on your way to a healthier smoothie.

Flax Seeds

These seeds also hold an awesome punch of goodness. Flax seeds have good fats that help nourish your body and keep it moving along with Vitamin B-1, Manganese, Fiber, Selenium, and Protein.

I like to put at least two teaspoons of each thing that I haven’t yet run out of. Not to mention I also like finding ways to get them for cheaper and save tons of money on my grocery runs.

Usually, with all the different ingredients in the smoothies, you can’t even tell they’re in there. Making it a daily routine to purposely consume ingredients that are natural and good for your body does wonders in just a few short weeks.

I’ve definitely seen a difference in my hair and skin compared from when I do take care of myself properly and when I stop consuming good nutrients. It really comes down to making it easy to create healthier habits.

Take Your Smoothies With You

I love being able to take my healthy ‘concoction’ for the day with me and a glass bottle is a great way to do that.

They don’t get odors attached to them because they’re glass, and they also won’t stain inside from all the fruit acids and colors.

These gorgeous minimalist glass bottles that come in the prettiest colors are the perfect example of a smoothie bottle. You can choose your fave shade (and they’re under 10 bucks each, wowza).

How To Blend Your Smoothie Quickly

A few years ago I came across a smoothie blender that one of my good friends had that I would constantly use…up until she lost the lid for the blender part of it.

So I decided to get a smoothie bullet for myself, because they are SO convenient and they aren’t messy and they help me get out the door faster!

There are lots of them out there, and honestly, if you’re a constant smoothie maker or want to start to be, and want to start getting healthier, then invest in this Oster smoothie blender (the EXACT one I have) is a no-brainer.

It blends through ice AND nuts, which I think is pretty darn cool. But you’ll have to check it out for yourself! It’s also not too expensive, which I LOVE.

It’s saved me from so much hassle of having the empty out a huge bulky blender and take it apart and clean it. All I really have to do is rinse the blade part of the blender or just stick it in the dish washer.

The blender bottle comes with a separate lid that you can add to it and go. It’s really that easy. I can’t say enough good things about it!

Tips For The Perfect Smoothie

Perfecting your smoothie can be quite a science. Here are five ways you can up your smoothie game you might not have thought about before:

Use Medjool Dates to sweeten bland smoothies. A perfectly healthy way to add sweetness to a bitter tasting smoothie.

Use 2/3’rds mostly frozen ingredients for a firmer consistency.

Add a pop of almond butter for a nuttier taste.

Use coconut water, almond milk, or green tea as the liquid base for your smoothies.

Remember, you can even invest in an Oster smoothie bullet to make your morning routine quicker.

Oh, and one more thing. Usually, when I make an all fruit smoothie (especially with watermelon smoothies) I like to add some Tajin Clasico Seasoning to garnish the top (they are absolutely delicious this way!)

It adds a salty seasoning bit to the top that goes well with fruit and gives it a nice kick of flavor!
